To protect against condensation, moisture, and dust, electronic assemblies are coated with protective lacquers. This coating increases corrosion resistance, creepage current resistance, and the lifespan of electronic components. Critical creepage and clearance distances between components and traces on the PCB are eliminated. Additionally, whisker formation is reduced.
The single- or double-sided coating of assembled PCBs is carried out on two NC-controlled coating systems with integrated continuous ovens, ensuring a throughput of more than 1,000 electronic assemblies per day. For prototypes and small series, an additional NC-controlled conformal coating system is available. Manual optical inspections with ultraviolet light ensure that the plastic coating is applied according to the coating plan and that the assemblies are correctly protected. Additional high-voltage tests are conducted to detect any creepage paths that are not visible to the eye.
