THT manufacturing
In through-hole assembly, component leads pass through holes in the board before soldering. Depending on the components and mechanical requirements, THT can complement surface-mount assembly on the same board.

Circuit board assembly goes beyond soldering. Production data, materials and testing need to suit the intended application. This is where production planning and electronics manufacturing come together.
Define the requirements
What does the assembly do, where will it operate and what quantities are planned? These questions help define the manufacturing scope, board assembly, protective coating and device assembly. An existing design can then be reviewed specifically from a manufacturing perspective.
Design for ManufacturingEvaluate prototypes
A functional prototype enables hardware and software testing. Our production planning team reviews the data, while purchasing sources components and circuit boards. Test findings can inform changes to the layout and component selection before production moves to the next stage.
Prototypes and pilot runsConnect production and testing
Series production brings together the required manufacturing and inspection steps. Alongside optical inspection, product-specific functional testing and programming are available. Depending on the order, coating, device assembly and logistics follow, according to the requirements of the board or device.

Whether you have an existing assembly, an approved design or plans for series production, tell us where your project stands and what manufacturing support you need.
What information helps with a manufacturing enquiry?
A brief product description, the intended quantity and your timeframe are useful starting points. For an existing design, a bill of materials and board and placement data help us understand the scope. Include known testing requirements and any enclosure, coating or assembly specifications. We agree the detailed documentation needed for each project.
Do I need a finished circuit board layout?
It does not necessarily need to be the final version. Reliable production planning does, however, require a concrete technical project status. P&R reviews the available documentation from a manufacturing perspective and supports coordination with your development team or suitable specialist partners. Schematics and layouts are created and approved by the customer or their development partner.
Can surface-mount and through-hole components be combined?
Yes. Many electronic assemblies use both technologies, combining compact SMD components with through-hole connectors or power components, for example. The design and its electrical and mechanical requirements determine the choice. Placement, soldering and subsequent inspection are considered as parts of a connected production process.
Does P&R also handle material sourcing and device assembly?
Yes. Our services include electronic component sourcing, warehousing, assembly and logistics. With modular sourcing, you purchase defined assemblies or device modules for your own production. Together, we establish which steps you will carry out and which services P&R will provide.
